Technology Planning for Cape Coral New Construction: A Builder's Guide
Cape Coral is one of the fastest-growing cities in America, with new homes going up at a remarkable pace. If you're building, the time to plan your technology infrastructure is now — before the drywall goes up. Retrofitting later costs 3-5x more than doing it during construction.
Essential pre-wire during construction: Cat6a ethernet to every room (minimum 2 drops per room), speaker wire for in-ceiling Sonos zones (living room, kitchen, master, outdoor), HDMI conduit from TV locations to equipment closet, coax for antenna/cable, and structured cabling home run to a central network closet.
The network closet should include a ventilated enclosure with a dedicated 20-amp circuit, space for a UniFi rack (router, switch, access points, NVR), battery backup (UPS), and cable management. We work directly with Cape Coral builders to spec and install this during the rough-in phase.
Smart-ready electrical is equally important: recessed outlet boxes behind all TV locations, smart switch-compatible wiring (neutral wire in every switch box — critical for smart switches), weatherproof outlet boxes at all outdoor entertainment areas, and pre-wired locations for Ring cameras and floodlights.
